All Grown Up

I received a newsletter on my birth month the other day and it made me realise one thing ... I'm a toddler already! All this while ... and it zoomed past me. I can’t believe that my metamorphosis was a non-event…duhh!!

So to update with the times, I shall relinquish the alias BabyIlya and upgrade to Lil Ilya ... because Tot Ilya just wouldn't work ... hihihihi.

It sounds heavenly doesn’t it when it rolls off the tongue, Lil Ilya, Lil Ilya, Lil Ilya. Can you just hear people saying it?

Lil Ilya is in the house!

Special Edition Quote

Papa asked me to publish this extra-special quote specially dedicated to Asu and PakSu. He said they will understand what it means. What the hey! The quote is so brilliant; I think most of us will learn something from it.

If it wasn't for the last minute,
nothing would get done.

Yet Another Wedding

I’ve spent my day yesterday at another wedding. How many have I been to now? … 3? … 4? I’ve lost count.

This was for Tok Long’s son, Uncle Mamat. Luckily, they had it in a community centre which was completely air-conned … YES! … And with big fans running too, YEHAH!

And as any other wedding that I’ve been to, it was long and dreary … as expected. But I did get to meet all my other small uncles and aunties and my cousins and nephews.

And with plenty of food and drinks around, I am completely at home…hihihi.

Official Bookworm

Mama brought me to the library today. I’ve been to the library countless number of times. Rows and rows of books, how to finish reading them?

But today, mama decided that since I loved reading/looking at books, she registered me as a member of the National Library Board.

Don’t you just love it? My very own card. And to think I’m an official member of the NATIONAL library!. Do I have to wear a tie now or something?

Having seen what book-borrowing powers this card can do, I immediately went around searching for those colourful books which I loved to flip.

I searched high, I searched low.
I searched sideways, to and fro.
4 books are what I need.
4 books for me to read.

Deconstructing Ilya

Mama’s mad at me. Well, papa too.

There was that day when papa was babysitting me. He was trying to get me to nap but my eyes just would not close. Try as he might to get me to sleep, it ended with papa nodding off first …. hihihi. Since papa has fallen asleep and I haven’t … sweet freedom!

As I got off the bed, my eyes spied the bedside tissue box. Now, being a baby, how could I not play with something so deliciously fun? So, I grabbed the box and sat myself nicely at the foot of the bed.

As I started to pull one tissue at a time, the excitement grew. I continued pulling each and every one of the tissue pieces like crazy. A few minutes later, papa woke up and startled me in my tissue pile. There was I knee deep in a heap, caught red-handed. It was a funny sight, but papa was not laughing at all.

The next day, when mama was busy doing her knitting thingy, I got hold of the wet tissue box from behind the pram. You know me, never to miss anything fun, started to... you guessed it, take out the tissues from this box. But before I had a nice big pile, mama caught me and ended my fun.

Cousin Alya’s Party

What a day I had yesterday! It was cousin Alya's party, her BIG ONE celebration. PakSu, that's Alya's daddy, had her birthday party in West Coast Park. I've been there before so I knew it's going to be a fun day.

When we reached there, the place was b
uzzing with activity. Everyone was busy preparing for the celebrations. Asu has just put up the balloon decorations, and I loved balloons. As the day wore on, the heat became unbearable. Adding to the fact that, I've tired myself out playing with some cousins and aunties, I retired to the big tent and had my afternoon nap.
When I finally woke up, there were lots more people around and Alya's cake has been set in the middle of the patch. My eye's popped because the cake was HUGE. It was The most gigantic birthday cake ever. And I'm not just saying it. My jaw dropped and my saliva dripped. Just look at the picture below.I also met Aniq, a fellow Bambino too. It was a weird situation really because after we said our hellos; we were staring at each other speechless... hahaha. Either way, I was glad to have met him.

More pictures here.

4200 hits

Yes, yes, every 200 hits seemed a nice amount of wait. Or maybe I should do it randomly, that is today 200 and maybe the next one at 300 hits. Mmmm …. That’s something which could work out.

Enough of the chit-chat. Here’s what I think about being an adult.

Growing old is mandatory,
Growing up is optional.

Role Model

You know how we babies would talk to our parents but was never understood. Try as we might, when we mean one thing, adults would think it’s the other. Here’s a baby who has found a way to communicate … very well. So all babies watch and learn.

Papa received this in his email today and after watching this baby, I've found my idol. Turn up your volumes.

When I grow up, I want to be just like her … hihihi.

Fynna’s 1st month

Yesterday was Cousin Fynna's first month celebration. She was like the Queen for the day. Everybody was fussing over her. No, I'm not jealous. I had mine eons ago … yesterday was Fynna's day.

There were a lot of guest arriving and of course the young ones like me, cousins Alya and Ibrahim joined in the whole fussiness too. Is there even the word "fussiness"? But you guys know what I mean, right?

By 2pm, I started getting cranky, papa noticed that too. Maybe the heat was getting to me, or the whole crowdedness and din of the celebrations? Mama quickly made me my afternoon milky and I was gone in 60seconds.
When I did wake up, I found myself sleeping with the fishes… hihihi.
When we got back home at night, I was still exhausted. I slept like a baby the whole night. Before I forget; happy first month cousin Sharafynna!

Tok Kin is ill!

Yester night, I went and visited Tok Kin. Papa said Tok Kin has fallen ill due to his old age. I hate it when people get sick. It's just not right getting sick and all.

We went there to cheer him up and hopefully make him feel a bit better. By the time we left, he was a bit cheerful but I don't know ... he does just doesn't look alright.

We love you Tok Kin! We'll pray for you to get well soon.

Baby Einstein

After watching the exhibition, we went to another building which was full of thingamajigs, doohickeys and whachamayoucallits. This section was the Science Center as told by big sis. The place was huge; I kept running around the exhibits with papa trying to catch up with me. And there are a lot of exhibits where you can run things by pushing buttons. And boy, did I push those buttons…hihihihi.

But these are the experiments that I liked best. Because I’ve kept pushing the buttons and learning how things work, my head grew big like Jimmy Neutron! … hihihihi

Also, I’ve learnt how to clone myself...

Now, there are more of me to love...hihihihi

Trip to Dinosaurs!

Would you believe it if I told you that I went out again today? We went to see Dinosaurs. Not the live ones, more to the stick and bones, dead as a door knob, dinosaurs.

I’ve seen dinosaurs; you know the cuddly ones, soft and always smiling. But these ones at the exhibition look big and scary. Lucky, they are dead if not I would have cried loud and long.

But the cutest looking “dinosaur” is this little thing.

Okay, okay … maybe the picture below looks less scary.

Isn’t he the cutest? It looks like a big chicken. Think of the drumstick meat this bird have. Mmmmm … drumstick.

Big bro said it was the “tai-kwan-dodo”. He said it became extinct during the Ice Age because it was trying to collect watermelons. Big bro is so smart at these things.

Swim Fan 2

Today would be another busy day because I realized later that we were going to Along’s house in the afternoon. He invited us for a swim and it was a chance for me to see cousin Fynna again.

As always, we were the first to arrive. Papa said buses move faster than cars. I don’t think so, do you?
Papa decided that we should hit the pool first before anyone else and I’m all for it. As soon as mama changed me into my suit, I was like scurrying into the water … well not scurry but more cautiously testing the water by the pool side … hihihi. But after a few minutes of water play, papa put my float on me and was into the pool like a water baby. Now, this is what I called relaxing.

I’ve forgotten to mention this. We celebrated cousin Hidayah’s birthday too! Happy birthday kak Hidayah. At least, I’ve got to eat a birthday cake today!

Rat Race

I heard from mama that today would be a special day for big sis. She said big sis will be competing in her school sports day and we will be watching her race. I was like huh! Why would people want to intentional tire themselves out? I mean … it was for fun, by all means run all you want.

When we reached big sis school, the atmosphere was awesome. There were lots of flags in different colours and streamers too. Papa said the school is celebrating Singapore’s birthday. I just looked at him and asked for a taste of the birthday cake. Mama and papa burst out laughing as if it was a joke or something. I don’t understand adults sometimes.

We went down to the field where big sis was ready for her big race. I couldn’t get close because of my pram … wheels and wet ground doesn’t go well with each other. But, papa did capture big sis amazing feat.

And she won too!

I can’t believe my eyes when I saw her medal. It was solid gold! Now I’ve come to realize why people race against each other … to win stuff. I want a medal too!!

4000 hits

What a long wait for this to happen. Maybe every 500 hits was not such good idea, I was bursting from the inside … willing, wanting, waiting to impart my baby wisdom. How about say every 200 hits; I can wait 200 hits … surely (in deep thought).

Without further ado, chew on this till the next 200,

No matter where you go … there you are

Trip to the Market

This has to go down as the most tiring weekend in my life!

I thought I could have a rest today but I was wrong. Mama whisked me off early in the morning because she had to do some shopping in JB. Luckily today, I’m wearing my sandals. Hopefully, my feet won’t suffer as it did yesterday …

Tok Din wanted to go to a street market first. As a passenger, I was just dragged along in the day’s adventure. I’ve been to this market before, but today it seemed rather crowded than before.

Mama told me that it was the fruit season now. I saw baskets, full of fruits which I can’t even name. The red ones with hair, the green ones with thorns, the small yellow ones in bunches and many more. Whilst, I was walking around admiring the scene, I realized people were looking at me. A quick wave made them smile a bit more … I told you I’m sociable.

The rest of the JB trip was all a blur. I went in and out of the car and into a few different shops that I just slept it all off. Lethargy was really getting to me.

By 6pm, the day’s adventure came to an end and I’m still not rested yet!

Wedding Blues

I’m truly and thoroughly exhausted. Today, papa’s relative was having a wedding reception. We arrived early at about 11 am and only left for home at 8pm.

In-between those 9 hours or so, I had to spend my time playing with my cousins and entertaining my uncles & aunties with my cuteness. In-between these activity, I had my feedings, ie drinking milk and eating those splendiferous cakes and sweets, and do my naps and my sit-downs.

It was just too much for my little feet to take, because when mama took off my shoes, my soles were a throbbing beet red.

Man, I'm tired, ... I really need to sleep now.

I’m Sitting Pretty

As I learn new things each day, each month, I slowly discovered that by using some skills in tandem or one after another, I could accomplish things that I never knew I could do. Just look at the video below as an example.

I discovered it by pure chance ... no kidding. The skills I used were sitting, pulling, holding/dropping and climbing. Well, not exactly in that order.

I tell you, I'm a smart little baby. Yes I am. But I warn you other babies out there, it is a dangerous feat so do it only if you are ready, okay.

Did you see the wave and the twinkle-twinkle little stars at the end? Wasn’t that superb? How about the BIG kiss-off to papa? It’s a by the book kiss-off … a big pucker, hands to the mouth and blows the kiss off with a stiff arm swinging at right angles.

Papa nearly blew a gasket when mama showed him the video. It’s either the kiss-off or because I messed up his precious picture boxes, he kept muttering and sighing.
Don't know what it all means, but right after that, rubber bands were used to lock the drawers in place.

Owww, mannn ... there goes another avenue to show off my skills.

Milky Way

In the past 14 months, I’ve changed my milk powder 3 times. I was never a fussy drinker. I was breast fed for at least a year, and as a supplement, I was given Dumex Dupro2 if mama was unable to provide me more.

By the 11 month, Dugro1 was slowly introduced into my diet with my regular porridge, rice and stuff.

Recently, due to my decreasing capacity in finishing my milk feeds, mama had changed the flavour of my Dupro1 to one with honey. I loved the new taste and have been gulping down bottles of it at every feeding.

Luckily, mama has been on the ball by keeping watch on my milk diet. As my taste buds change, my feeding habit changes. What’s my next milk product? I don’t know. I was thinking about strawberry milk … hmmmm that would taste heavenly.
