Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Park
On our 2nd day in Gold Coast, we went to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. It looks like a zoo and a birdpark rolled into one. I saw lots of parrots or what the locals call "lorikeets" in the trees. It was their feeding time in the morning and I really wanted to feed the birds but they just plain refused to come down. The guide told us that when the birds come to feed, it would be in the thousands and it would had been a beautiful sight. But for now, we had to imagine it ... hahahahaha I saw a lot of pelicans and many other water birds like ducks in the mangrove swamps. I even managed to see the eels and people feeding the eels. And there were a whole bunch of these slimy creatures, all fighting to be fed...ewww. But the best part was the kangaroo area. These hippity-hoppity animals are just lovely to watch. I even managed to hand fed one of the kangaroo myself. The nibbling was ticklish but the accompanied saliva was just awful, utterly gross out ... but it was a great experience for me. From Currumbin, we went to Carrara Markets. Mama was in smiling from end to end since this itinerary was postponed on the 1st day. We had to take a public bus there from Pacific Fair. Carrara Markets is actually one big flea market. It has a lots of shops selling different things or trinkets. By afternoon, I was bushed tired. I refused to walk any further until someone carried me. The day became so hot that we relaxed in a cafe while mama went looking for her beads next door. Mama later browsed in a few second hand books and she ended up buying 3 books. Later, due to a miscommunication between papa and our driver, who was supposed to pick us up and sent us back to the hotel. In the end, we had to wait for nearly an hour. Back in the room, I was so exhausted that I fell asleep whilst drinking my milk. Labels: Holidays |
